How can I improve myself as an individual and as a team member?

I’ve been looking at online websites and information about ‘public speaking’ and have been practicing the speech I said at the presentation at home and trying to improve my confidence. As a team member I feel that more communication would be beneficial and there’s always more for more organisational methods. I have realised whilst working within a team my faults, disadvantages and cons not only reflect on my work and development but my team members and it isn’t a nice feeling. You genuinely care about letting down your team and disappointing them. It makes your faults more noticeable to yourself when three other people are pointing it out to you (in a constructive way mostly) Now I feel I have gained more of an understanding of what I need to improve, learning from my team members. I not only want to take action to make improvements but to also not forgot this project management experience but to refer to it.

How the presentation went

I have come away from this presentation experience and know I never want to feel like that again…my phobia of public speaking made an appearance and just depleted my confidence and delivery. My team presented confidently and I feel I have let them down, we discussed this and with the team being positive and supportive they comforted me and suggested practicing in the mirror at home, you might giggle but I’m willing to try anything to improve this much needed skill for my future career.

On a lighter note heres a couple of snaps of our window display proposal

Personal Reflection

During these 8 weeks working as a team The CMYK for the brief Project Management, I feel we have achieved what the brief required, working together to complete all criteria required and surplus design ideas and models to improve The Body Shop’s sales online and in store. I have found working as a team it is very important to communicate often. Key points to remember: Word all suggestions, queries, praise and doubts daily with constant reference to the design brief and client. To be organised is also key to a successful project, allocating every team member with clear, constant roles and updates. It is also important to keep positive attitudes with constructive criticism and lots of problem solving and compromise. We updated and communicated via phone calls, text and Facebook on evenings and holidays, this was vital to the progression of the project as we were able communicate and leave messages with every team member 24/7, also having documented discussions via Facebook private message threads to refer to similar to recorded meetings. I found time saving modern uses of communications very useful and realised how important and versatile an online presence is for promotional campaigns in businesses due to the research I was able to gather regarding precedent studies.

My Final Gift Packaging 3D Models

I used a wide collection of  fun bright colours with lots of interesting textures that would appeal to our target audience. The butterflies are arranged to imitate their fluttering movements.

Packaging adjustments and improvements

I found my initial chrysalis concept for the gift packaging design wasn’t really working; it didn’t look very neat or fold well together if I didn’t use paper rather than card to make the mock model which wasn’t strong enough to hold the products. It’s a shame my attempts at making the chrysalis 3d shape as it links in with our campaign The Butterfly Movement as it represents the second stage in a butterfly’s life. Now I will look at other 3D forms for inspiration for my new gift packaging bag shape, something relating to our campaign, butterflies and natural beauty.

Our Final Presentation Looming….

Our Project Management Plan Presentation is on the 16/01/14 and we need to prepare our presentation style, what order we are going to speak and what props we need. We also need to figure out how to introduce our window display proposal into the presentation that will be displayed by us at our college reception building’s window on site.

Development of my gift packaging design patterns BUTTERFLIES!!!

My butterfly shapes are layered with various oak leaf pattern designs. I wanted to imitate natural shapes found in the world's flora.

My beautiful inspiration.......
